“I’ve always known that life is happier with animals by our side. I worked hard and followed my heart to achieve my dream of becoming a veterinarian, earning my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Since then, I’ve been proud to dedicate my career to animal health. In 2009, I acquired my first veterinary practice as a co-owner alongside more seasoned partners who taught me so much. Facing the challenges of entrepreneurship, I later chose to further my knowledge by completing a Master’s degree in Organizational Development which I earned in 2016.
Day to day, I thrive in collaboration and am a better version of myself as part of a team. I take great pride in my role as a partner in a group of 8 veterinary establishments. Today I serve as president of this collective, alongside eight other passionate women: Drs. Evelyne Joubert, Stephanie Surveyer, Stéphanie Nadeau, Isabelle Demontigny-Bédard, Vanessa Krivak, Yanie Richer, Jiakim Leclair-Vance as well as animal health technician Isabelle Asselin. I’m also a founding member of the Passionimo veterinary network, a lecturer, a member of several committees related to the veterinary profession, and a columnist on various media platforms, including TVA, CKOI and Mitsou magazine. As an entrepreneur, I realized a long time ago that perfection is out of one’s reach. In our group, teamwork is everything. We believe that a good leader is, above all, someone who cares for others and prioritizes the well-being of the organization – someone who inspires others to give their best and to keep learning. Being an entrepreneur isn’t always easy, but it’s an exciting challenge that brings great pride when the team is thriving, when we feel we’re making a difference for clients and patients, when the animal truly remains at the heart of our mission, and when we can know that the next generation of veterinarians will also have the opportunity to become owners, thanks in part to our work.
Since 2015, I have openly shared my reflections and experiences with others by giving conferences on life in veterinary practice, professional relationships, and the client experience. My approach is straightforward, easy to apply, and focused on a single goal: “Let’s strive to be the best version of ourselves, so we can enjoy as many great days as possible. And let’s be kind—especially to ourselves—as we navigate our imperfections and challenges.”. Although my advice is rooted in the veterinary world, it applies to any workplace, and nothing would make me happier than to see these ideas extend far beyond our profession.”
