HISTORY AND VALUES

Flair & cie’s story is one written by women. The group was born from a deep desire to offer a compassionate space for animals, their families and those who care for them.

In 2018, Dr. Lucie Hénault and three of her partners (Dr. Evelyne Joubert, Dr. Stéphanie Surveyer and Isabelle Asselin, AHT) became the owners of four veterinary establishments in the Greater Montreal area. Their goal was to work in an environment that reflected their values and delivered high-quality veterinary medicine to their patients. For over six years now, these partners have been dedicated to caring for your best friends in the most human way possible.

Over the years, other veterinarians have joined the group and together they have acquired new clinics to better serve you.

Lastly, through its professional advice, the Flair & cie webzine is there to guide you in maintaining a healthy and lasting relationship with your pets.

Mutual support is at the heart of our network of partners — that is both the beauty and the greatest strength of our group."

This journey gave her valuable experience before returning to settle in Quebec. From the moment she joined Flair & Cie, she found a team that shared her values of mutual support and collaboration.

Why did you decide to make the leap to owner-manager at Flair & Cie?

I had never really considered a management role, but the energy and warmth of the Flair & Cie team immediately drew me in. My passion for management developed naturally and quickly became a real source of daily motivation. Lucie trusted me from the start and, as a mentor, she gave me the opportunity to explore various aspects of management. With her support, I’ve been able not only to get involved with the team, but also to develop my leadership skills - participating in strategic decisions and learning to navigate day-to-day challenges. My decision to become a manager was, above all, driven by the energy and motivation of my team, as well as their belief in my abilities.

Why did you choose to become an Animal Health Technician partner in this group of veterinary establishments?

"I was very young when I told my parents that one day I was going to have a hospital where I would treat all the animals on Earth. As I grew up, I realized that this wasn’t going to be possible, of course. So I enrolled in the Animal Health Technology program at Collège Lionel-Groulx, thinking that if I could help as many animals as possible in my lifetime, I would still have achieved my goal. I then completed my internship at Hôpital vétérinaire du Nord, where I’ve been working passionately ever since! From the beginning, I dreamed of one day becoming a partner and co-owner. I worked hard to show both my determination to join the partnership and my deep commitment to the clinic. I took additional training courses, enrolled at university as well, all to perform better and refine my skills to meet the expectations of both our clients and our team. I’ve been a partner since 2018. My childhood dream has finally come true!"

Why did you choose to become a veterinary partner for this group of establishments?

"I wanted to become an owner so I could have a real influence on the medicine we practice and the services we offer in the clinic where I work. I also wanted to play an active role in the professional development of my team members and do my part to encourage Quebec entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is in my blood — my father owns an engineering consulting firm, and I grew up with a deep appreciation for business. In 2017–2018, I had the choice to buy Clinique vétérinaire Lac St-Louis on my own or join the partnership and share responsibility for four establishments as part of a team. I attended monthly partner meetings for nearly a year before the official transaction, and it quickly became clear that this was a unique opportunity to join a group of dedicated, motivated, intelligent women who share both my personal and professional values."
